Couch Potato in the Batcave.....

Spent the weekend watching tv as well as old movies. Have no idea why I decided to catch the "LOST" marathon on AXN. What's the point anyway? I think it was the final 6 episodes before the season finale. I might have just spoilt everything for myself. Been watching a few episodes from season 1 before then stopped due to the time it was screened on tv.

Decided to watch "Batman Begins" again on DVD and it was fantastic. Compare that to the George Clooney "Batman & Robin" (which I watched again on ASTRO) and you'll see the difference. Can't wait for the sequel!!!!!

Today, it was "Constantine" (yes, AGAIN) but managed to catch a movie that I have not seen before "Alexander". OK, so I'm one of those who gets opinions from reviews before actually going to watch a movie. I have honestly no opinion about "Alexander" - I don't think it was neither good nor bad. It was just a 2-hour plus time filler for me.

One thing that caught my attention though - this movie, and the other one with legendary warriors ("Troy") had something in common. Why was it that they seemed to be bi-sexual. Achilles and his cousin (I think it was) and in this movie, Alexander The Great Bugger and whats-his-name. Now, I'm not a real history buff and never really read much about these 2 legends but that's something you don't learn about in History class I reckon. Or have they been "censored" for our local "consumption"? That said - nothing to get worked up over I suppose. Just something interesting I observed.

If you've read my last post, I did some captions with the pictures. The ones that said "I'm Batman". Because I had plenty of time to waste, I decided to "google" that phrase and there was a link where it compared 4 actors who've played Batman:

a) Adam West (the original 60s Batman!)

b) Michael Keaton ("Batman" and "Batman Returns")

c) Val Kilmer ("Batman Forever")

I just had to include that picture on the right, it was just goofy!

d) George Clooney ("Batman & Robin")

The site was basically a popularity poll where readers submitted votes on who they thought made the best Batman.

Responses ranged from serious "Keaton's Batman was not afraid to inflict pain on his enemies" or "Keaton fired missles at the Joker and using his batarang, hooked it around the Joker's ankle causing him to fall to his death" to downright silly with things like "Keaton is the best because he got Kim Basinger and Michelle Pfeiffer in the sack". Keaton was the darkest, closest to the comic versions of Batman where he was ruthless etc.....

But the one that takes the cake - this guy lays out his points for West, Kilmer and Clooney. When he gets on to the part about Michael Keaton, he says:
"Michael Keaton: In terms of acting skill, there is no contest here. Keaton will win. His skills were good enough to get him two Oscars and nominated for (but cheated out of) two others ("Apollo 13" and "Saving Private Ryan"). In "Apollo 13", he helps bring a crippled spacecraft and its crew safely back to Earth and in "Saving Private Ryan", he played a soldier who fought in the worst of the D-Day landing sites and later trekked across German-occupied France in his search for Private Ryan. This man plays heroes. Even in "Forrest Gump", he had to triumph against stupidity. His acting skill and flair for playing heroes will enable Keaton to wipe the alley with the Bat-wannabes."

After reading the first two lines, I was scratching my head. When I got to the part about "Apollo 13" and "Saving Private Ryan", I was trying damn hard to recall which scene was Michael Keaton in. When I got to the part about "Forrest Gump", I was still trying to figure out where Michael Keaton was in the film. At the end of the post, there was the following:

"We think you have Michael Keaton confused with Tom Hanks. - Eds."
The guy decides to particpate in a poll and he can't even get his facts right. WTF?!?!?! Still, it was good for a chuckle.

So now - just for the heck of it, more pictures of the TAKARA Batman that I found online, nice poses done by other people.

So, let's see if TAKARA did a good job capturing the likeness of Christian Bale:

Christian Bale

Hugh Jackman - Wolverine

Now I'd say that was impressive as well.
