Merry Christmas.

Spent the whole day lounging in front of the tv watching movie after movie. Watched "Black Hawk Down" followed by abit of "X-Men" before watching Chris Klein and Heather Graham in "Say It Isn't So".

Stopped by Sam's place at New Quay last night. He had some friends from Church over. We just stuck to ourselves while his friends obviously knew each other beforehand. Came home and watched Diane Lane and Richard Gere's "Unfaithful" on DVD before going off to bed.

Went on another shopping spree on Sunday. Spent about $ 476 on Ralph Lauren Polo stuff.
- 1 pair of jeans/chinos
- long sleeved shirt
- 2 t-shirts
- collared polo shirt
- wallet

Consoled myself by saying that's my Christmas + New Year + Chinese New Year shopping.

Some fuck stole $ 20 from my wallet at work on Friday. I'm pretty sure it was stolen. There's no other explanation why $ 20 would be missing from my wallet. Serves me right for leaving my belongings in my bag in the change room.

Haven't gotten my phone from Rudy yet. Still waiting. Hopefully by the end of the week.

"Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers" comes out tomorrow!!! Obviously, we haven't gotten tickets yet and it'll be some time before I get to watch it.

Results of the experimentation with Courtney Simon. I've since had another 2 hugs from her since the last update. What are the chances now eh? She seems like a nice girl. Long dark brown hair, nice slim body...erm. OK. Enough.

Working tomorrow and its a public holiday! Damn. Working till 11:00 pm at that!

Got to remember to return the DVDs later.

I'm sore and aching all over. Went for the "company" Christmas party yesterday. It was a 30 minute bus ride to Oakleigh where the go-kart track was. Didn't realise that the go-kart track was indoors. We were split up into 4 groups with 2 groups starting their go-kart session first while the rest of us roamed around to do other things.

There were arcade games, about 5 pool tables, also Laser Squad. Thanks to Doug, we managed to have a go on everything (well - almost). He was even nice enough to give us money to spend on games etc. Andrew and I played a game of pool before going off go-karting.

Impressions:

- The damn go-kart is so small. I was in a really uncomfortable position where my legs were constantly at a 45 degree angle or more. I don't think these things were built for tall people like me.

- Kept getting rammed by Marlene and Samantha. Damn. Samantha and Andrew got into a pile up when they rammed into each other and consequently into me. Good thing I was right in front and their karts some how got entangled and the track marshalls had to stop them.

- Don't know how I did but it was a good experience. Can't say if I'd like to go karting again (see first point).

Next was another game of pool again. Then it was time for Laser Squad. We were split into 2 teams, Orange for us Kew employees and Green for the Hawthorn employees. We had to put on a vest with flashing lights (targets) on our shoulders, phasers and backs.
Discovered that my phaser wasn't shooting. SHIT. Went out to get an exchange. Ended up having to get a new vest and my ID was "RADAR". It was a maze of walls and it was dark with only limited light (some UV lights as well).

The Hawthorn team must have played before because as soon as the game started, they positioned themselves on high ground. I didn't even know where the hell I was going. Good strategy because they have they have good views all around. Sure I got shot many times but in the end, I was positioned 4th in my team with the 2nd best accuracy overall with an accuracy of 33% (the highest was 35%). Sweating bucketloads by the time we came out of it.

They also made arrangements to go to a club called "The Room" in Hawthorn after that. Some people wanted to go. My legs were aching from the damned go karting. Some of us waited at work to make further plans.

After some of them got a bite, they were planning to leave. I playfully said to Courtney, "No hugs for me?". Surprisingly, she turned around came over and gave me a big hug. Did I mention she was wearing a tiny red spagetti strapped top? Hah...that would make Rob extremely jealous. He was always asking girls at work to go out with him. He even asked Courtney once to go watch "Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers" with him but she said she was going with her cousin. I told her "Just tell him you're going out with me". She said that was a good idea. Hrm...I wonder if all this was just a plan that I'm involved in but wasn't aware about. Maybe I have to "test" her again and ask for more hugs *wink wink* ;)

Rob's reaction after everyone started making plans but leaving him out of it. He made alot of suggestions but everyone seemed to pretend not to hear him or pretend that he wasn't there. When they all left, he mumbled "Thanks for inviting me *sighs* I guess I'll be going home now." He was obviously not happy about it.

Came home to watch abit of WWE and then a shower then off to bed.

I'm supposed to have gotten a reply from the bank by today about my Credit Card application. Haven't been bothered to check the letterbox yet. Then again its been exactly a week so maybe its too soon.

Rudy didn't go to work yesterday. Will find out tonight (hopefully) if my Optus mobile phone application has been approved.

Thanks to Andrew, I have about 25 CDs worth of new music. He lent me most of his R&B and Rap CDs and I've spent the last week or 2 ripping them to MP3s.

4 weeks before I go back home. Need to start making arrangements soon. Start packing. Collect plane ticket. So much to do.

Day: Tuesday - 26th November 2002
Time: 10:44 pm
Listening to: Boyz II Men - Human II (Don't Turn Your Back On Me)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

As usual, its been awhile since I updated this. Dei and Dap have been asking why. I said I just didn't have the time but they think otherwise. They think I've been busy with my new "toy".

They think I've been busy with this as well.

Which is kind of true I guess. Been occupied lately with other things that updating this blog was not a primary concern of mine.

I guess I've been waiting until things happen before I update, that would be a more interesting read, wouldn't it? Let's start with my new phone.

I've finally gotten it, went to the shop the other day with DT to sign the new contract. I thought everything was fine, was I wrong. The following day, I'm told that there has been some problems and that the credit card has been declined. OK. That explained why the phone line is still not connected to this day. What doesn't make sense is that the same credit card was used to purchase my plane ticket on the afternoon, the day after I was told the transaction was declined. Hopefully that gets fixed up ASAP.

More problems again this morning. Yes, MORE. I rushed down to the city, mainly to get to Medibank so that I could cancel my Overseas Visitor Cover which costs me about $ 145 each month. I've decided to switch over to a cover for Residents but the benefits for claims on medication don't pay as much as the OS Visitor cover. The thing is I have to pay about $ 30 monthly now. Which is a fraction of what I used to pay. What's the problem? $ 30 is the price with government rebates and to be eligible for that, I have to get a Medicare card number. I thought I could get my Medicare application done and over with this morning but that's where the problems occured. DIMA has not supplied Medicare with my details (proof that I got my PR status). I was told by the lady that they normally give DIMA a month to supply the information and if it does not show up in the system, chances are it won't be on the system. And because of that, I was requested to show proof that I am a PR of Australia and I need a whole shitload of documents. The ones I have now are not enough and I need more documentation that supports my claims that I am a PR of Australia now, documents like contract of house or property rented/purchased or utility bills like telephone, electric and water bills.

The only thing I can do now is wait until I can obtain more documents like that, hope that the Medicare database is updated soon.

To make things worse, it started raining heavily when I reached Medibank along Bourke Street. Almost thought I had to call in and tell them I would be late/not coming to work. As soon as I got home, DT told me that someone from work called and I was supposed to call back. Ben asked if I could start earlier. Nothing wrong with that since starting earlier meant finishing earlier as well. Managed to come home and get some rest before watching abit of tv right until 10:30 pm. Yes, it is Wrestling night tonight and RAW was on.

What? I'm supposed to go on about my new phone? I guess it has to be seen and "played" around with because its hard to explain. The most obvious thing one would notice is that the sound quality of the phone is different. It's alot better. Also there's the colour screen and the animated screen used as the backgrounds. The only complaint I have about the phone so far is the lag when entering names or typing out SMS. There just seems to be a lag. For example if I want to type the word "cannot" I have to wait for about 2 or 3 seconds before I can type in the second "N". I found the easiest way is to press the "space" button after each letter, but that seems abit absurd!

I'm also waiting for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in the mail from New Zealand.

Some people in Victoria, further away from Melbourne have already gotten theirs but there are some of us in Melbourne or the inner city suburbs who have not. Personally, I'm not that concerned about other people, although their feedback on the forum is good so that I know when to expect mine. Just that some of those bastards gloat about getting the game already. Shit, I hope its not lost in the mail or anything like that.

Let's see, what else has been happening the past couple of weeks. Chris, Boon, Tom, Marlene and myself went out last Friday. We were supposed to go for a movie. I was expecting more people to come along. In the end, we had something to eat at Automatic Cafe/Bistro at Crown Complex while Marlene disappeared off somewhere for awhile. I had some really nice sausages and mash. Anyway, turns out Boon and Chris (or one of them) wanted to play arcade games at Galactic Circus. I mean what the fuck? Marlene was as bored as hell already and I've mentioned it before we went that it wasn't financially economical to spend the whole day playing arcade games. In the end, Tom drove Marlene home before dropping me off.

Something I've noticed about Boon - he's like sheep. He does whatever Chris does but he seems to be a hypocrite because I heard him talking bad about Chris from someone else today. I bet he is hanging out with Chris because he has a nice car. I bet if I had a Skyline GT-R or an Impreza WRX, he'd stick to me like glue as well. As Andrew said, he's like a shadow. Someone to look out for.

Marlene's promised to take me out to play pool when she gets her car back. She had an accident a few weeks back and hasn't been driving since. She was also the one who said she would get me pissed drunk. Hmmmm...

Sam came back to work on Monday evening. She asked me if I got her message on my mobile phone. Of course not! My line's not connected. She kept me in suspense, making me wonder what sort of message she sent me. She said she would tell me when it wasn't as busy. At the end, she told me her message contained the name of the person she liked. What an anti-climax! The last time we went out she was asking questions like "do you like anyone from work?" etc. She also mentioned that the new girl Stephanie was single. Ah...Steph...where do I begin? She's about my height. And the thing is, she's 15 year old I think! Anyways....

The "Christmas" gathering will be held on the 17th of December. I haven't written my name down yet but it seems that those who have not written their name down will be rostered to work. Maybe I should put my name down. Abit of fun should be good. The plan is to go karting or laser shooting. Or both.

Well that's about the updates for the last 2 weeks. Until the next one.....

Looking at the calender, I've just realised its a full month to go before this movie starts screening. Can't bloody wait! If I remember correctly, this was the first poster which was released.

This is the second official poster, which looks better I suppose.

This one looks really good.

Come December 26th, just can't wait for this movie!

Day: Monday - 18th November 2002
Time: 12:03 am
Listening to: Ja Rule (feat. Ashanti & Murder Inc.) - Down With You
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Updating this regularly seems to be at the bottom of my list of "to dos" lately. It's not that I don't want to. Sometimes I think its better to leave it till there's something worth writing about. Where should I start?

Yesterday has got to be one of the most exciting days in recent memory. I've bought my very first DVD. It was the "Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring" 4-disc Extended Version which cost me about $ 60 at Borders Bookstore in Chadstone. It was sort of an impulse buy but then as usual, I couldn't pass by a good deal. It had an original price of $ 80.95. DT, KE, her friend and myself were at Chadstone to actually watch "Red Dragon" which wasn't too bad a movie I suppose.

This is what the 4-disc set that I bought actually looks like:

I guess the highlight is the extra 30 minutes of unseen footage not found in the cinema or the 2-disc version that came out a few months ago. I was speaking to the cashier asking about the "Collectors Edition" set which had SOLD OUT! It was selling for $ 149.95. Which supposedly comes with a 5th disc and a pair of "Statues of Argonath" bookends. The "Collectors Edition" package is pictured below:

And its contents:

I didn't actually see the "Collector's Edition" at Borders last night, only saw it today at Sanity in Camberwell when I went out with Chris, Boon, Tom and Sam. From the looks of it, there seem to be collector's trading cards as well! Of course, the picture is from US review so the Region 4 version might have different contents.

Discovered something interesting today. It turns out that Chris is either bisexual or gay. I've heard people talking about it before so I've been suspecting but today, he finally uttered some statements which just proved my suspicions correct. Personally, I don't feel anything different, he's still the same Chris that I know, he's still the same friend. How did it all come about? Talking about cars actually. Then one thing led to another and voila~, the cat's out of the bag.

Another revelation, Tom and Sam have also said that they think Katherine Hope has a boyfriend. Bugger. Oh well - such is life.

Just got back from Safeway to get abit of groceries. Went all the way to St. Kilda beach to actually have fish and chips at a restaurant on the jetty. We left at about 8 pm and by the time we got there, the restaurant was closed. We finally settled at a place called "Leo's" after walking past a row of restaurants. Had a rib-eye fillet, potato soup and garlic bread as appetizers. It was a very filling meal, but nothing special about it.

I finally know who the fuck Jonathan Devine is. Yes, Jonathan Devine is Jonno. I saw Chris getting his details down into Samantha's address book this afternoon and finally found out. Why can't they just stick to their normal given names? Jonathan become Jonno, Jeremy becomes Jezza...I mean...what the fuck?! Anyway, we stopped by Jonno's house a while this afternoon, somewhere in Balwyn North if my geography is correct. Why did we go to Jonno's house? Because Chris "likes" Jonno. How do I know? I heard Chris asking Sam "Does he just like me as a friend or does he like me as a boyfriend?". Oooooooookay.

Anyway, back to the house. It was a nice, huge double storey house. There was a pool. There was an entertainment/living room next to it with the large screen TV with the usual VCR and DVD system. I noticed a PSone. There was also a pool table there. His room was rectangle in shape. The whole house was carpetted as far as I could tell. I'd estimate about 10 rooms in that house, at least.

It's really weird how these people act though. For example, Jonno seems to talk loudly when he's with his friends but when speaking to his mother, he becomes timid as a mouse. We were on the look-out for his parents who were not in because it seems that his mother would be pissed if she saw us there. It's as though they don't welcome guests, or their children's guests I should say. Even Chris is like that, I've suggested a few times before we hang out at his place to play games on his new AUS $ 10,000 Plasma flat-screen tv but the excuse he always gives "Parents are in.". Hrmmm...just makes me wonder.

I've finally bought this, last weekend and have been spending a fair bit of time with the Playstation 2:

Can say I haven't regretted it since it was kind of an impulse buy. It's got the music score from the movie, it just feels good listening to the music while playing it as well. Good stuff! "Lord Of The Rings" mania will be upon us once again. I've seen the reprints of the novels with new convers yet again. Flipped through the movie guide book and seen all the nice pictures from the movies as well.

Also got confirmation that this will be arriving sometime during the coming week or next week at the latest. Had to order it from New Zealand because the Australian version was supposedly going to be censored/edited and delayed as well. Thought I could get it alot earlier, but I guess the full version is better than the edited version.

And next week, I can say at long last, "Finally....The Rock has come back to the Playstation 2!".

Yes, this is another game I just can't wait to get my hands on. The latest instalment of the WWE Smackdown series. It's supposedly a major improvement over the previous game. It's all good I say. I should be getting this next weekend.

The fellas at work have planned another social outing. We're probably going to Crown to watch a movie. Chris said he'd come pick me up after work so that I could join them. I guess I'll have to give lunch at Smorgy's a miss this time. That's where we were supposed to go during the Melbourne Cup Day but went to Food Star instead.

Still haven't had the time to sign up for a new phone plan. I might need to bring more documentation to assist in the application. Pay slips might be required. Might do it during the weekday if I have the time.

Finally, last but not least, I've also booked my flight ticket back to Malaysia. Yes, I'm going HOME. I have my ticket reserved on the 18th of January 2003. I'd probably stay back in Malaysia between 1 1/2 to 2 months depending on what I can negotiate with Ben.

I guess this is it for tonight. It's time for bed.

Day: Tuesday - 6th November 2002
Time: 10:04 pm
Listening to: Innuendo - Selamanya
-------------------------------------------------------------------

It's been almost a week since my last post. Just didn't get around to updating this. Some people still read it regularly. I suppose they were waiting for this.

It was a public holiday yesterday, the Melbourne Cup race (horse racing). We get a public holiday dedicated to horse racing. Listened to the results on radio after lunch and I commented to Khanh, " We get a holiday just for this? ". The race was only about 5 minutes, maybe even less. Some of them made bets on the horses. I'm no gambler. Besides, I don't know much about gambling much less horse racing! All I know is, the winning horse is called "Media Puzzle". Noticed how race-bred horses always have funny/catchy names? Go take a look next time.

Alright, so it was a holiday. A group of us decided to meet up for lunch. Originally planned to go to a place called "Smoggies". Yeah, think that's how its spelt. In the end, Kassandra booked elsewhere, supposedly cheaper and just as good. Ended up going to "Food Star". I think I've been there before. I think there were about 15 of us ( Sally, Courteney, Lauren, Liz, Samantha, Katherine (not Hope unfortunately), Samantha, Kassandra, Khanh, Pete, Jonno, Tom, Chris, Boon and myself ). Think I might have left some names out. Can't be sure though.

After lunch, we were hanging around the car park, listening to some music (Chris had his car stereo blaring, that show-off! :p) and then listening to the race. Decided to go back to meet at the work place. After some time, decided to drive around and finally decided to go watch a movie. So off we went again. Some had gone home, some had to work. Chris, Tom, Boon, Sam, Katherine, Jonno, Tom, Andrew and I decided to go to Crown to catch "Austin Powers: Goldmember". Yes its been showing for awhile. But I suppose most of us hadn't seen it yet. Jonno had to leave as soon as we pulled into the carpark. He had his mother calling him up asking him to go home. It's funny how some people talk differently to their parents, he was so loud when he was with us but like a mouse when speaking to his mum on the phone. We all walked him to the tram stop, waited until he caught his tram, then walked back to get tickets for the movie.

After the movie, we were at the arcade playing some games. We all had a go on some VR - rollercoaster ride which seats 2. And it goes up, down, spins 360 degrees etc. Pretty enjoyable actually. And that's how we spent our day. It was about half past 10 by the time I got home. Most of us agreed we had a good time. More of these group outings will be coming up soon I'm sure.

Here's some ego boosting news for myself ( Go me! ). Turns out that both Khanh and Marlene think I'm pretty hot. OK, I realise that they might not be 100% serious but its still an ego boost for me. Before we went to the movie yesterday, we were all gathered in the carpark at work. Marlene had just finished her shift. She came out, greeted all of us, started her usual teasing, saying "How's it going, hot stuff" to me. She came over and gave me a hug and I just lifted her up and spun her around and around a couple of times. I don't know if she did that on purpose just to make Andrew jealous (he's had the hots for Marlene for a long time, I heard). Khanh commented out loud " She just loves Roy ".

After that, Khanh and Marlene were saying something and I responded. They both looked at each other and started giggling and said "He's so cute!". After that, Marlene said out loud " Where were you all my life before this? " and Khanh responded " Back in Malaysia ". Khanh also kept emphasizing that I was her "hot date" for the day. Hrmm. Like I said, ego-boost for me. :p
Well, to put things back into perspective, Khanh's already engaged...so...all you readers, there's nothing going on ok? ;) *winks*

And today I was talking to Katherine (not Hope again) during my break. Talking about our new friend, Rob. Turns out he thinks he's god's gift to women and has tried picking up ALL the girls at work, staff or not! I should have been there to witness all these Kodak moments. Where was I? Anyway, was talking to Katherine and mentioned something that happened to me ages ago when I was back in Malaysia and I was going home after house practice. I had this group of girls who started whistling when they saw me. Why? Cause I was wearing shorts. The thing is, Khanh was in the stock room and overheard what me and Katherine was talking about and she shouted out " Cause you're hot, Roy! ". How did this topic come about? Katherine was laughing, thinking about the day Rob came to work wearing his shorts, and I told her about it. Like I said before, EGO BOOST :D *grins*

We're such bad people. But I believe we can treat him nicer if he had a nicer attitude, although I think its abit too late for that now. I think he just tries to hard to impress everyone and he's overdoing it, making people irritated, pissed in the process. Some people find it entertaining.

Well - finally got a confirmation email that GPStore in New Zealand has received my payment for "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" which will be delayed and possibly censored in Australia. Hope I get it within the next 2 weeks without any problems. Too many games coming out this month. Don't know how I'm going to make up my mind which to get first.

Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (Playstation 2)
It's LOTR! I'm somewhat of a fanatic now. The only reason I'm waiting is because I'm thinking if I should wait for the XBOX or Cube version coming out end of the year. Shit...shit shit shit. Just saw on the site of GPStore that it's already out in New Zealand. It should be out here by the end of the week. SHIT!

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (XBOX)
Stealth/Action game like Metal Gear Solid. Looks good, good reviews. What more could one ask for?

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Good reviews, a psychological horror game.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 or Burnout 2: Point Of Impact
Had a go at this game (NFS:HP2). Was fun and pretty addictive. Guess I missed playing all these kinds of arcade racers. NFS:HP2 has all the cool cars like Porsche 911 Turbo and Ferrari etc while B2:POI has spectacular car crashes. Racing flashy cars, sometimes escaping from cop cars, how else can you do it legally? ;)

Hrmmm...decisions decisions. Maybe wait until I modify my PS2 and get the pirated versions for both these games :X

I suppose I'll be able to handle it. Just a matter of time...and budgeting.

I love the fact that I can include pictures now. The posts are so much more colourful now. Spices things up.

Just discovered last week that my contract with Telstra has actually ended. Since I'm a PR now, I'm eligible to apply for my own line, as apposed to using DT's name, because my student visa did not meet the requirements when I arrived, I needed a 2 year student visa, at least to apply for a phone line. Since I've got my PR now, I can apply for a line on my own and get a new phone in the process. My first choice:

Samsung SGH-T100 - $ 30 for 2 year contract

Either that, or its one of the following:

Nokia 8855 - $ 20 with a 2 year contract

Nokia 8910 - $ 310 for Titanium, $ 430 for Midnight (Abit out of my budget, I just realised - have the price list in front of me)

I bet Dei is grinning from ear to ear now. She's had her eyes set on my current phone for as long as I can remember.

Speaking of Nokia phones, check out the Nokia site to check out some pretty cool new phones coming out within the first 3 months of 2003! Click here - "NEW NOKIA PHONES!".

I'd do individual links and perhaps some pictures when I have the time. I'm rushing off to bed. Good night.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Day: Wednesday - 30th October 2002
Time: 11:23 am
Listening to: Keith Sweat & Xscape - Am I Dreaming
-------------------------------------------------------------------

What a week it has already been. Had the weirdest dream the other day. I dreamt I had just woke up and was in the bathroom about to brush my teeth. I looked into the mirror, then saw that 2 of the front teeth on my lower jaw and turned black. The enamel seemed to be a transluscent, semi-whitish colour while the insides were black. Could this be some sort of sign? That I should take care of my teeth better? Bloody freaky.

Also here's abit of information that not everyone might know. Was playing this trivia game on IRC once. It's amazing some of the stuff you learn just by playing games that test your general knowledge, history and geography amongst others. One of the questions asked were "Which is the only part of the body which does not repair itself?".

Yes people, the answer is "Teeth". Now why didn't we learn this in school? Or was I not paying attention? I thought about it and it was true. Dropped hair regrows from the hair follicles that we have. Cuts on one's skin heals with the platlets and plasma, which form a netting over the wound and the skin just regenerates. Well, this is just the top of my head from what I learnt in my Biology lessons. Don't take my word for it. Go read some books to find out more.

Anyway, a broken tooth does not grow back. A chipped tooth does not grow back. A tooth where the enamel gets dissolved by bacteria causing cavities DOES NOT repair itself by filling up the holes, naturally.

It's really weird. God gave us these Wolverine*-type mutant healing powers on almost every part of our body except our teeth. Why not? I mean even something as unimportant as our damned nails grow back. What's the point of our nails anyway? Why do we need nails for? Is there some scientific proven use for our nails? Other than scratching, what else would one need their nails for?

The paragraph above sounds like what a stand up comedian would say. I'm going to get this part copyrighted as one of the many million dollar questions!. If Jerry Seinfeld can bloody become a freaking millionaire having a show "about nothing", I want a piece of that pie while making some seriously good observations!

Time to take care of those teeth, people.

* NOTE: In case you people didn't know and are not comic fans, Wolverine's (in X-Men) mutant power is actually his rapid mutant healing powers. His bones being adamantium (is there really such an element?) were actually genetically modified. His retractable claws. Hmmmmm..... I'm not sure where his claws come from. Don't know if he was born with it or if it was part of the genetic engineering, when he was the lab-rat.

Monday - 30th October 2002 - suffered Temporary Hearing Loss

Had a shower in the morning. First day back at work after a week off. I must've gotten water into my ears. Couldn't drain them so grabbed a cotton bud and try to dry it out. Think I might have pushed too deep in because I suddenly couldn't hear very well. That scared the shit out of me. I keep holding my nose and trying to blow, like what we do when we're up in the hills when the air pressure is different. It didn't work. I had no time to worry about that, I was hoping it was temporary.

Walked to work. It was busy, rush hour traffic. People were driving to work, buses of school kids on their way to school, trams. The worse thing of it all, my hearing loss was so bad that I almost couldn't hear anything. It was quiet. I couldn't hear the revving of car engines, I couldn't hear the sound of the trams. Well I could but it was all so soft. I was really afraid by this time.

Ben was on duty and Andrew was already there. I told Ben about my temporary loss of hearing, he asked if I was well enough to work. After that, he started making fun of me. He would talk to me and then purposely keep quiet with just his lips moving. I was deaf but not completely deaf.

Decided if it didn't get better within the next couple of days, an appointment with a doctor was necessary.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday - 29th October 2002 - Still partially deaf

Woke up in the morning still partially deaf. I conlcuded that it could be a flu that's causing this temporary hearing loss. I think that happens at times, doesn't it? Or I was just trying to convince myself that I was going to be alright.

Hearing started getting better as the day went on. Even Andrew's annoying singing and statements which annoys at times were like music to my ears. Seemed abnormally cheerful when I was working. Mood started going when the day got hotter and hotter. Didn't like the heat. I was sweating which is something that rarely happens at work. Does not help the fact that I had to move about 15 crates soft drink syrups (20 kg each) from the back of the store onto the shelves.

The best thing about yesterday was of course, I got my hearing back. I also got to see Katherine Hope! Yes! But shit - I didn't get to talk to her. She was probably checking her roster and Rob started chatting her up. She saw me and gave me one of her smiles. Why did I have to be busy at that time? Why couldn't I talk to her for just awhile? When will I see her again?

She was wearing one of those baseball type tees with the word MasterClass printed on the front, jeans and white sneaker and had her hair tied up in a ponytail. It's one of those t-shirts that makes fun of other companies. Hers was probably something to do with the "MasterCard". Among the other kinds of designs I've seen are:

- the Ford (car) logo but the word "Fuck" instead of "Ford"
- a print Harry Potter with the wizard, but the words "Harry Pothead and the Philosopher Stoned"
- a print of Homer Simpson smoking a joint of weed or something with the words "Stoner Simpson"

Yes, there are many more t-shirts like that and I saw them all at the store on Swanston Street. Can't remember the store name, could be "Off Ya Tree" or something and they sell bongs and do tattooes at that store.

Got home after work, showered, watched RAW, came online received a reply from Lily's office which mentioned something about me getting a visa. Had an irritating conversation with Dei and Dap. Don't know why I got irritated when they told me Dad kept insisting that the visa I got was my bridging visa. Had to search through my pile of documents to find that I already have my bridging visa. I think I've decided not to let them in on any information until I'm at least very sure of the details.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Called Lily's office and spoke to Mr. Ong. He CONFIRMED that it was my PR visa that was approved. Made an appointment to see him tomorrow morning.

So this is it. 30th OCTOBER 2002. I'm officially an Australian PR. Strange as it may sound, I'm not jumping over the moon. Should I be excited? Am I normal? Is this a normal reaction? What's wrong with me?

The way I see it, it could be an exciting time ahead. New opportunities, new decisions, new challenges. All these also open up a new set of problems. Maybe that's why I'm not going "whoopedidoodah!" and bouncing off the walls. Maybe its information overload. First few days back at work, weather's shitty. A combination of factors.

Enough for now. Congratulate me when you see me chatting online? This is it for this entry. Signing off.

Day: Saturday - 26th October 2002
Time: 8:42 pm
Listening to: Paul Mac (feat. Peta Morris) - This Is The Sound Of Breaking Up
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Horrible day. Decided to go get my groceries this afternoon, after spending a couple of hours online. Was determined to get my shopping done and get home in time before "Saturday Night Live" on Arena, today's host being WWE Wrestler, The Rock.

So there I was taking a leisurely stroll down the quiet street (the streets are oddly quiet or less busy on weekends), enjoying the breeze. I stopped by the ATM planning to withdraw some cash when to my horror I discovered my ATM card wasn't in my wallet! First thing I thought was that I had lost it. Then I remembered I took it out, in case I needed to scan it with the documents that I needed to send of yesterday. I concluded I must have left it on my table back home.

Now this posed another problem to me. I had $ 10 in my wallet, and about $ 14 in coins which, for some strange, reason I decided to bring with me today. I was planning to get something to eat and there was definitely NOT enough to get my usual groceries which range from $ 20 - $ 60 per week depending on what I buy. Should I go home to get my ATM card since no card = NO EFTPOS as well! I looked at the time and decided to not to buy my groceries, thinking I could get them tomorrow. Had my weekly fish again after stopping at the newsagents to browse through some magazines.

After filling up my tummy, decided to see what I could get with the odd $ 13 or $ 14 I had in my pocket. In the end, after lots of mental calculation, I managed to get a loaf of jumbo bread, a pack of Coon tasty cheese and a dozen jumbo sized eggs. It came up to $ 12.20.

The point of it all made me realise how dependant we are for money. I reckon I could budget if I really had to. It's just an experience for me that I've never gone through before.

Observation of the Day:
On the way home after getting my groceries, I walked past this post where I noticed a sign stuck on it. It was just a quick glance, didn't intend to read it. What I saw on my first glance was the word "LOST" in bold and the next line, 3 year old girl. I decided to turn around and read the notice. What the sign actually said was:

--------------------
LOST
3 year old girl
misses her favourite soft brown teddy.
If found please call ........
--------------------

Also noticed a pair of underwear on the road. Right....probably the work of those Year 12 students who've finished school. Read about the damaged they caused to some vehicles. Tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage. They throw eggs and flour at each other.

Actually bumped into Belinda Hii and Kara Terlich on the tram on Thursday evening and I actually heard them discussing what they planned to do. They even discussed what has been done in other schools: there were girls who actually photocopied their breasts and sent the pictures out. Interesting. Very interesting indeed.

Have no idea what I'll be doing. There's another DVD left to watch, "Dr. T And His Women" or something like that starring Richard Gere. There's also the movie "Alive" on Channel 7 at 11pm. It stars Ethan Hawke and I'm not sure if its the movie I think it is. The one I have in mind is a true story about a group of sportsmen who are stranded in the mountains after a plane crash. They turned into cannibals eating the flesh of the dead bodies of the people on flight who didn't survive. Should be an interesting watch - if I get to watch it.

Watched Tom Cruise's "Vanilla Sky" last night. Now that movie is some confusing shit. Really consfusing shit. Everything only made sense at the very end of the movie. What the hell was the writer trying to prove in the show? Twists and turns that didn't make sense? Trying to confuse the viewers into thinking if Julie Gianni was really Sofia and vice versa? The fact I didn't like about it was how it all turned science-fiction towards the last 15 or 20 minutes of the movie. Sort of like the Matrix. No wonder it got bad reviews. Seriously if you haven't watched this movie and you're considering, save your time. You'll thank me for saving 2 hours of your life.

Stomach isn't feeling too good now. Might have eaten too much. Bad. The girls cooked spaghetti and offered me a portion. They forced me to finish the meat sauce which I did. Shouldn't have done that.

Have to remember to turn the clocks and watches 1 hour ahead. Daylight savings officially start at 2:00 am Sunday morning (according to the paper I read while having lunch). At 2:00 am tomorrow morning, it officially becomes 3:00 am. OK. Just as long as I'm not late for work on Monday. Already set alarms so that I'll remember to set my clocks and watches 1 hour ahead.

Just talked to Ami and realised "Alive" is not showing today, but tomorrow. What's wrong with me? I look at the TV schedule but I don't look at the date. Not that I normally bother with free TV anyway. Foxtel guides are layed out by individual dates. Its a much easier lay-out. Oh yes, if you're reading this - Hi Ami!!! :D

Guess I'll have to give "Alive" a miss. Working at 8:00 am on Monday morning and I need all the sleep I can get.

Well then, I guess I'll have more time to play "Deathrow" tonight or watch "Lord Of The Rings:Fellowship Of The Ring" on DVD. Had this urge to watch it again. Strangely. Can't wait for "LOTR: The Two Towers" coming out this Christmas.

Day: Friday - 25th October 2002
Time: 1:05 pm
Listening to: Next - Butta Love
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Got up nice and early this morning, about 8:30 am. Got ICQ messages from Dei last night and they urgently needed some documents. Went off to see whichever manager on duty today so that I could ask them to write out a letter of employment for me. Ben's back after his 5 weeks off.

Decided to have my breakfast as well. Was a pig. I had:
- Chive and Omelette Roll (Khanh made a super special one with an extra slice of cheese for me!)
- Sausage and Egg McMuffin
- 3 Hash browns
- Large orange juice

Looks like they all missed me..Khanh..Chris...Got a big hug from Marlene before I left. Nice to know that I'm missed. Hehehe

Went out yesterday afternoon at last. Staying home 4 days in a row kind of took its toll on me. The hail on the Wednesday didn't help either. Just when I planned to go out. DT has got a shot of the hail pellets. Might link it up for the heck of it if he posts it on his site. The backyard looked like someone emptied a bean-bag when it was raining the hail. Lots of little white pellets all over the grass and ground which eventually melted. Now I see the benefits of owning a digital camera. "See a phenomenon or picture perfect shot, snap, save, upload". Simple as that.

Went to have my burrito yesterday for lunch. Stopped by at Pulsar to see if they had "Deathrow" for the XBOX on sale. Non there. Might have sold out. Managed to try out "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" though. Didn't impress me that much. Might rent before I buy this one.

Next stop was Myer. I went looking for new t-shirts. Yes. Something I seldom do. Tried on 2 Nike t-shirts but just didn't like them. Some other time I suppose. A pity because they looked nice. I also walked around looking at other apparel. Saw a really nice denim Levi's Engineered Jeans jacket. With a price tag of $ 199.90, it had better be nice. Didn't try that on. Dangerous - might want it! What's wrong with me these days with all the shopping? Is this what people talk about, referred to when one reaches financial independence? Is this what everyone does once they start applying for their credit cards - they go on shopping sprees? Good thing I don't have one of my own. Also equally noteworthy is that I haven't used the card mum gave me. Only once actually - to reserve movie tickets.

I actually bought a CD and another single. Yes - I do too much shopping for a guy. I was looking for this CD for ages! "Next - Rated Next". Got this on cassette back in Malaysia. I went around the whole of Melbourne City Centre looking for this CD and couldn't find it. Good ol' Myer had the last one. Good that they keep stock that are heaps old. This album came out in 1997! The other disc I got was Nelly's "Dilemma" single. Paid for them after browsing through the rest of the CDs. Also found the song I wanted to download. I knew it featured Dido. It's by a group called "Faithless" and the song is "One Step Too Far" I think. Will have to download and give it a listen. Hrm - I seem to be promoting music piracy which is a big NO NO actually. :|

Yay! Myer had "Deathrow". Tried out the new "Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2", on the Playstation 2 demo unit. Its addictive. Oh no! That's not good. It's got gorgeous cars....who doesn't like driving a Porsche 911 Turbo?? Ferraris in the game as well. Whats more, you even get to drive the police car to chase down illegal races. Yes - a virtual "Fast And Furious" for you. Also, buying "Burnout 2: Point Of Impact" gets you a $ 20 cash back from Acclaim! Walked around - looked at stuff.

Headed off to Toys R Us to check if they had "Deathrow". They didn't have it in stock. What caught my eye? "Super Mario Sunshine" for $ 89.95 which is $ 10 off the normal price! And I still have the $ 10 coupons which means I pay only $ 79.95 IF I were to get it. Don't know. Might have outgrown Mario....too old for that now. Finally went back to Myer and got "Deathrow". Only 5 copies left. And I couldn't find it elsewhere. Could sell out! Good reviews generally = good game and good games = sell outs!

The weird thing of it all was - I didn't even intend to get it in the first place! Now you must be thinking, "what in the hell is Deathrow?". Here's a "little" synopsis for you, in my own words.

It's a sport/fighting game set in the future called Blitz. Two opposing teams are made up of 4 players on each side. The object of the game is to score points by throwing a frisbee-like disc through a goal about 10 m of the ground. The other way to win is to beat the shit out of your opponents to stop them from scoring. All this is easier said than done though. It's a violent and brutal game. Blood splatters all over the arena floor as characters are injured, there are sounds of bones breaking, injured players move around leaving puddles of blood on the floor. There are things you can get in the arena like power-ups, health, credits (used for steroids and performance enhancing drugs for the players) amongst other items.

What are the cool things about this game? Here's a few:

- You can customize the music by playing your own song off the XBOX hard disk.
- There is a Matrix style slow motion effect in which the camera goes 360 degrees around you when you attack opponents by grabbing them. So far I've seen breaking of arms, a knee to the abdomen or face and a flip as well as other wrestling-like moves.
- Last but not least - the swearing in the game. This isn't a game for kiddies actually. The language is uncensored. Some of the stuff you hear "@sswipe, f*ckhead, motherf*cker,@sshole". There are taunts and threats like "I'm going to break your f*cking neck!" or "You've gotta be shittin' me!!" (this one I heard when I threw the disc from one end of the arena to the other and managed to score a goal!). I actually found the swearing more humourous as to feel offended by it. It enriches the experience methinks :D

It's a bloody addictive game, I must have spent about 4 - 5 hours last night trying to beat the weakest team on "Conquest" mode! I finally beat them. It wasn't easy but I beat the "Sea Cats" by ONE measly point. Pathetic I know - but fun.

I guess my ramblings aren't good enough as say an experienced reviewer. So here's a link for you - "Deathrow Review", should you decide to check it out.

OK - this should be enough for now. Time for more "Deathrow" goodness. My XBOX is my new best friend. Not to say my PS2 and GameCube aren't.

Double post in a day!! What a rarity.

First things first, discovered the correct method to including images with the posts. I'm going to make this site a little prettier with pictures to go along with updates whenever possible.

5 minutes to go. It's KA's birthday today ( 24th October ). It's become somewhat of a tradition to celebrate at the stroke of midnight.

It was rain and hail the WHOLE day. That spoilt any plans I had, wanting to go out this afternoon. There's tomorrow I suppose.

Since all of you might know I'm totally nuts about WWE (wrestling), you should know that I'm waiting for the next game to be out in a couple of weeks. Sometime in Mid-November. To emphasize the fact that I really want this game, I'm going to include 2 pictures to go with this post:

First, an image of the cover of this game. Which one appears on PAL shores is still of a mystery. First one is supposedly the PAL cover. This is a shot of Wrestling's past and Wrestling's future - face to face. The Rock versus Hollywood Hulk Hogan. This was Wrestlemania X8 just a couple of months ago. One match that has gone down in History as one of the firsts.

This one's the NTSC USA cover:

And now - to emphasize how much I want this game:

JUST BRING IT!!!

Yes - being abit of a show-off and wanna show off that I CAN include pictures in my post.

This is going to make things alot more interesting. Pictures to go with my wishlists. Imagine the possibilities. Whoo hoo!! Now, only to go dig up that wishlist again.

Time: 11:32 am
Listening to: Eve (Feat. Alicia Keys) - Gangsta Lovin'
-------------------------------------------------------------------

You might probably notice that little bit above this and how much shorter it has become. 2 reasons for this:
a) I've complete lost track of time and can't be bothered how many days have passed
b) Nobody really gives a shit how long I haven't played video games anyway, do they? :p

Shoutouts to my new found buddies especially BabySakura! This group of crazy people can be seen frequenting the forum boards of:
http://www.ricebowljournals.com/
It's actually a collection of Asians who've come together to form this community, with lots of links to sites. Some like mine. I joined this site a long time ago but completely forgotten about it until BabySakura decided to add me to her ICQ. ( Note: I dreamt of you BabySakura! :p Thanks alot...I was transported back to my Secondary school days....freaky! )

Anyway, this is certainly uncommon, an update in the middle of the week. Kind of like what was happening before I started working. In fact, for the past 4 days, I've been living the way I've been living back in my student days. Get up, eat, tv, sleep not necessarily in that order.

The last few weeks have been absolutely mad as well. The Bali bombings, the sniper in the US, the shootings at Monash Clayton?! What the f*ck in hell is the world coming to? Wait - I think I've just answered my own question.

So what have I got to say this morning.... I'm frickin' bored. I've been staying at home for the past 4 days and I think I'm going to make a trip to the city today. Who knows what I'm going to come home with...new purchases? A CD perhaps? Something more expensive? I shudder at the thought of it.

What the f*ck...the sky just turned cloudy all of a f*cking sudden! It looks like its going to rain! Guess my plans for going out will be postponed.

Other breaking news...I have got to be one of the most accident-prone person EVER. Colleagues and managers tease and laugh everytime I ask for a band-aid at work. The more sympathetic ones tell me its the oil that affects the conditions of our hands etc. Paper cuts. Sally Kirwan showed me the injuries she got last week....a burn about 4cm long that was the result of accidentally pressing her arm against a metal fry basket just out of the frying vat! OUCH! Not only is there a long line...its got the imprint of the criss-cross pattern of the basket burnt into her arm as well. Poor thing...

Now speaking of accidents, I think I am KING. Honestly...who the hell gets f*cking injured playing video games? Name me a person! Go ahead. I can't believe I f*cking poked myself with my fingernail and cut myself. This is unbelievable. I need a band-aid.

This new guy at work is starting to get on everyone's nerves. Started on day # 2 on the job for him. As of last Friday, he had officially earned himself the following nicknames:
- Blimp
- Rob the Knob (Rob being his name)
- Wanker
- Fat F*ck ( Good ol' Courtney...you give it to him! )

Personally, I've had nothing against him personally but if he decides to be funny with me...Here's how I think of the situation. A new guy comes in, tries to make friends, tries to get along with everyone. That would be the ideal situation. Now Rob the Knob comes in teasing people on the SECOND F*CKING day of work. Shame on you, ROB. SHAME! You're not going to get in anyone's good books like that. First impressions of him were already bad in the sense that he talked too much. Everyone was wary on the first day he reported to work. Andrew actually said he wasn't too bad and ended up the victim of Rob's teasing the following day. You spoke to soon, my brother....you spoke too soon. Also thanks to Andrew, I've learnt a swear word in Kiwi. I don't know the spelling but its pronounced "Giffey".

It's raining. Can't go out. No burritos for me today. No yummy cheesy sauce to go with the seasoned wedges. I guess its just bread and alot of tv to keep my company today. Damn. Just when I had the urge to get out of the house today.

It's been a few weeks since I last updated. It's about time that I did.

The past couple of weeks have been school holidays here. Work was absolutely insane. It was supposed to be quiet but it was the complete opposite. Guess someone's projections were wrong. Either that or Melbournians decided not to go for holidays this time around.

A few good things out of working during the holidays. I've actually met people that I haven't seen the entire time I've been working there (2 - 3 months). Her name's Katherine Hope and she's a casual worker. I've only seen her twice over the span of 2 weeks. The first time I saw her, I invited her to join the group of us for the movie we were supposed to go for. She didn't know about it because she didn't see the notice on the wall. The conversation we had before she left for home that day went something like this:

Me: So when will you be working next?

KH: Next week, I've got the same shift.

Me: I see. So I'll see you on Friday night (referring to the movie we're supposed to watch)

KH: *turns to me and smiles* Maybe!

The following Tuesday, I saw her again. The first thing she asked me was "How was the movie?". I told her it was cancelled because a few of them couldn't make it. Didn't really get to talk to her again as she was at the back while I was serving on front counter. When she didn't have cars, she did come to the front to "back" me up. I know I know, I'm being sensitive to this but why didn't she help the others on counter instead of me? Was it because I was nice to her? Who knows....

Once again, she had a 2 hour shift like the week before and she went home before I did. She was ordering and I served her at the front counter.

Me: So what can I get you?

KH: Can I please have 6 nuggets, medium fries and a small coke....

Me: *keys order into register, give staff discount and tells her the price*

KH: *counts money then asks...* How much will it cost for 6 nuggets, small fries and small coke? I don't have enough money.

Me: How much do you need? I'll take it out of my own pocket....

KH: No no no .... how much is the meal with small fries?

Me: *insisting* It's alright...I'll pay the difference for you. I'll just get the money out of my bag. How much do you need?

KH: Just 50 cents.

After getting the money and putting her order through. I ask her when she was supposed to work again and she said she wasn't sure.

Me: See you around then.

KH: I'll definitely be seeing you around again.

Don't know when I'll see her again. Will be looking forward to it though ; ) Did I mention that she looks good in tight jeans? No? Well...did I also mention she's in High School and she's probably between 16 - 18 years old. Now that isn't that good. : |

Attended a staff meeting last week. Talked about ways to improve service, how to draw more customers etc. There was also talk about the venue for the Christmas party that we're supposed to have. Hrmm...it was September and talking about Christmas already. It's the only time of the year when the store closes.

Finally managed to meet SW last weekend. What an effort it required. After being "stood up" 3 times, I finally met her but still had to wait 3 hours for her to show up. Was in the city early to meet Yvonne and Kelly to pass Kelly Ryan's Bionicles. Had a snack with them while waiting for SW, who was supposed to come with 2 other friends. I waited until finally she said that her friends could not make it and I was supposed to meet her at 3pm outside Nike. This was 2 hours later that originally planned. I went shopping and bought a bottle of new "perfume". The new "BOSS" one's not too bad...it's got a orangey smell to it and comes in a spherical container/bottle. Reminded me of a Pokeball from the Pokemon cartoons the first time I saw it. I think its a bit pricey though. $ 120 for 90 ml spray. Settled for "Davidoff Cool Water" instead. Got the gift pack for $ 95 which came with a 75 ml spray bottle, 100ml tube of shower gel and a toiletries bag. There was a bonus gift CD as well which has a couple of songs which are nice in there that I like which are:

Groove Theory - Tell Me
Mary Mary - Shackles (Praise You).

Never really heard the rest of the songs though.

Called Lily's office (Thursday afternoon) and she didn't back until today when Mr.Ong called and assured me they're still "monitoring" my case. Managed to meet KL for awhile in the city. I had to settle some bills and to get to Medibank to claim the money. Had the usual beef burrito with the wedges. Their new cheese sauce is yummy....2nd time I've tasted it. The first time was when I meet Yvonne and Kelly.

Was also at Pulsar wondering how much I could get for "Fuzion Frenzy" for trade-in. I was told I would get "NOTHING" because they're giving away that game with every purchase of an XBOX. Guess Microsoft is planning to get rid of excess copies that way. Saw a few new games that look interesting. "Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny" is out. "Burnout 2: Point of Impact" looks fun too. I've STILL resisted the urge to buy "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on the XBOX and "Super Mario Sunshine" for a few weeks now. I've heard that "Super Mario Sunshine" is really good though. And I still have 2 of the $ 10 Toys R Us discount vouchers left. Decisions, decisions...what to do?

Been thinking about what car I should get - also the fact, what car I CAN afford. More decisions....

Time for bed I suppose. No specific plans for the weekend. Will see what happens.

Day: 277 (Sunday, 22nd September 2002)
Time: 9:02 pm
Status: End of Week # 12
Days without PS2: 14 day(s)
Days without Cube: 1 day(s)
Days without XBOX: 15 day(s)
Listening to: Robbie Williams - Angels
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Another week gone by. Weekend spent watching 2 movies:
- "40 Days & 40 Nights", starring Josh Hartnett - a romantic comedy about a guy who takes a vow of abstinence from sex and all
things related after a relationship gone bad.

- "The Last Castle" - starring Robert Redford and James Gandolfini. A prison drama about a General who overthrows a violent prison
warden

Both movies were pretty entertaining. Something to do on a weekend. Spent more time playing Resident Evil. Strange as it may seem, I don't want to finish this game in a hurry and restarting everytime I get killed is not frustrating. Even starting the game all over again just so I could progress better is not a problem. I love this game!

Had Thai food for dinner last night, a treat from Uncle K. It was disappointing. If I were to pose a question to you and ask, what would you think you would be getting if you ordered "fried rice with green curry (beef, chicken or pork). The first thing that comes to mind would probably be:
- a plate of fried rice
- a bowl of green curry with selected meat.

Right? WRONG! What I got was a dish of rice friend IN green curry with the meat. Totally not what I expected. Also, I've had better green curry before.

The interesting thing about the place was that the patrons consisted mostly of females. No wonder DT's friend likes to takeaway from there. It was him who introduced the place to DT.

Was supposed to go meet SW today. Called her a few nights ago, (or was it last night?) to confirm with her. I called her 2 hours before we were supposed to meet at the South Yarra Station just to be sure. There was a ringing tone but then, it got disconnected as if someone had cancelled the call. Alright, I suppose she wanted more sleep. No big deal. I didn't want to go all the way out and wait there only to be told later that she couldn't make it or something. Playing it safe I suppose. I tried calling for the next 7 1/2 hours until about 1/2 an hour ago. All the time, the phone was still off until now. I've got to call her later to find out what happened, and to make sure she wasn't waiting for me there while I was at home trying to reach her on the phone.

Went out for some groceries and a bite, a late lunch. Went to that Fish Shop near Leo's Supermarket. I think I got ripped off. Paid a total of about $ 13 for 2 pieces of decent sized fish with a huge serve of chips. Also had to pay $ 1.50 for extra tartare sauce. The extra fish cost me $ 4.50 for a big piece, while it was $ 2.90 for a smaller piece.

DT and the rest of them have gone to the Melbourne Showgrounds. Yes, another year has gone past. It's like a carnival of sorts with rides, food, souveniers etc. I had planned to go with them, since I had to change my plans but changed my mind in the end.

I'm officially earning about $ 1 more per hour at work now. Go me!

The girls here seem to start flirting at such a young age. I had a group of about 3 girls who wanted to buy $ 0.15 worth of Oreo, which we can't sell, because the minimum is $ 0.30. It went like this:

Girl # 1: Hi, is it possible to get $ 0.15 worth of Oreos?

Me: Sorry, we can't do that.

Girl # 1: Please please please please please. Just give us half the amount.

Me: Sorry, we can't do that - the camera's watching. ( I don't know what kind of half assed excuse this is, I should have said it doesn't go into the register )

Girl # 2: (trying to sound seductive) Hi Roy...... (obviously she knows how to read my name badge)

Me: (plays along) Hi *smiles*

Girl # 2: I really like your glasses Roy. They're so cool.

Me: Thanks - but you still can't get $ 0.15 worth of Oreos.

Girl # 1:*sighs* OK OK, can we get anything for $ 0.15?

Me: No, sorry...don't think so.

And they proceed to leave.

Another thing I left out ( I think ) was what a lady commented when I was taking her order in Drive Thru lane one day a few weeks back.

Lady: What accent do you have? It's lovely.

Me: I'm Malaysian-Chinese. But some people say I sound Indian

Lady: Oh I see. It's lovely.

Me: Thanks alot. Have a nice day

First time I've received compliments like that.

Guess this is it, back to another week of work starting tomorrow. Should be quieter as the school holidays have begun.

Finally, the day I've been waiting for has come and gone. Finally got "Resident Evil" for the Cube. I'm loving every minute of it. Even getting the game was such an event.

I first heard that the game was out in Melbourne from some people on the forums. I found out that Pulsar was selling it on Wednesday. I planned to go get it on Thursday after work so I gave them a call. They said they had to remove it off the shelves because they're not allowed to sell it before Friday the 13th. I also called Toys R Us but they hadn't received their stock. It was torture reading how everyone raved about how good the game was. I called Toys R Us again on Friday morning but they still had not received their shipment. They suggested I call back in the afternoon.

During the entire time, I was in a dilemma. Should I :-
a) Go get it from Pulsar and pay $ 108
b) Wait a few days for Toys R Us to get their shipment and save $10 with my discount voucher

It's a good thing I had to wait in the end because not only I got $ 10 off with the voucher, Toys R Us was selling it for $ 10 cheaper than everyone else! In the end, I have a double disc game for $ 89. The bad thing out of it was I almost got "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" for the XBOX. Heard people saying how good this game is. Might consider getting it.

Back to "Resident Evil", it's so bloody good I was stuck to it for about 5 hours yesterday afternoon. It's been a long time since I played a game for so long, if I ever had done so in the past. Graphics are good, lots of blood and gore. Action at its best. That's what I like. The strange thing is that there's hardly any music and so far, I haven't been scared just yet. Nothing has made me jump. Perhaps I need to play it on a full surround sound system to get the complete effect.

Back to reality. It's official, I'm getting about AUS $12 per hour at work now. That's an extra $ 30 or so each week. That's a good thing.

Mandy's quitting full time and going casual. She'll be working at Safeway on weekends. She would have gone off to New Zealand today.

Andrew's in deep shit. So much was revealed during the last few days. He's on probation now for a few reasons I suppose. One of them was that he was stealing product and got caught on the video cameras. Seems he was caught making himself a sundae and was caught on tape eating it. The other was probably for his disciplinary problems. He got into a huge fight with Marlene and it turned into a cursing/swearing match. Just when I thought he was going to be promoted.

I got teased by Khanh and the rest the other day. Started when I told them about what happened a few days earlier. A car of 4 young girls came into drive-thru where I served them. After their order, one of them started telling me that X (can't remember her name) just broke up. I just looked at all of them and smiled. They started laughing at X and teasing her before they drove off. I told Khanh about it and she went off singing "Roy got picked up" and news spread around quickly. Marlene said I should've asked for their phone numbers. Hrmm...now why didn't I think of that?

Also, don't think I've mentioned this before but I've got a new nickname. Before this, I was known as "The Royster" compliments of Chris "Frodo Baggins" James, even Ben started calling me that. Then all of a sudden 2 Friday nights ago, Boon started calling me "DJ Roy" and I'm stuck with that now. I really have no idea where all these come from.

Learnt abit of how to make breakfast on Friday. Khanh taught me. Might be learning more tomorrow. Back shifts (kitchen) shouldn't be very far off now.

Friday night was insane. Some schools started their holidays. We were unprepared for the sudden rush. Seems that it even went on for the next 2 1/2 hours after I left. Met Chris, Mandy, Steve, Paul and some others that night. Was supposed to be a farewell of sorts for Mandy. Ended up in Camberwell playing pool.

There's going to be a group outing on the 27th of September. The plan is to go watch "XXX" starring Vin Diesel. Might probably be going fo that one.

Seems to me that there always seem to be something happening at work. Interesting. Guess this is it for this week. There's going to be a BBQ later. All of us and the twins should be here as well. Probably later on this evening.

Been downloading some "new" songs again.

Nothing really interesing happened the past week except for that incident at work. This couple must've been high on drugs. Slurred speech - they seemed really stoned. I had just arrived at work and then they came in complaining they didn't receive 2 burgers they paid for. I directed them to the "Collection" window. Ben came up to me and asked what was going on. He had to check surveillance tapes and found out that they didn't even buy their stuff from our store. He called the police to let them know it wasn't safe for them to drive around in the condition they were in. Turns out they fell asleep and Ben had to shake them awake to tell them they didn't even come to our store. A couple of cops came and took them away and towed their car away as well.

School holidays are coming in about 2 to 3 weeks time. I might start getting some training in the kitchen. Time to start making burgers I guess. Was told by Ben I might get some kitchen shifts as well as training during the holidays. We might be getting new uniforms as well. Caps with polo-shirts and slack pants. Hrmm...wonder what those will look like. Also discovered that full timers need not wear visors. Time to lose the visor I suppose.

I have a feeling this update will be short so I'm sharing an article taken from today's "Star" paper, about how rich people spend their money. Interesting.

THE next time you are tempted to run off the road that flashy continental convertible that overtook you at the lights, here’s two things you ought to remember: that car really does cost more than your house, and yes, the driver does have more money than he knows what to do with.

According to a quick survey among luxury car importers, the most popular cars among Kuala Lumpur’s big spenders are the Mercedes, BMW and Porche – and the newest models with full specs (that, to you and me, means fancy gizmos like leather seats, car phone and television) will set you back nothing less than half a million ringgit. But if you prefer something a little more exotic – like the Ferrari or Lamborghini – be prepared to part with nothing less than a cool million. .

“The most expensive car we’ve sold was a beautiful red Ferrari which cost RM1.5mil. Now, we’ve got a RM1.8 million Ferrari Bachetta – this baby can really fly so it won’t be here for long,’’ says Dave Foong, manager of a luxury car importer in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

In the showroom are also two dozen other equally fancy-looking cars beckoning buyers with their gleaming metal and polished leather.

“They go really fast,’’ says Foong, snapping his fingers in quick succession as if to illustrate his point. “Some men buy new cars as often as they change their shirts.’’

To ordinary folks, it’s inconceivable how someone can dole out obscene sums of money simply to secure himself a faster ride, but for the men who are drawn to these dream machines, it’s the thrill of man versus metal.

“In the end, it’s all about control and power. It feels great to sit in the driving seat of a machine that’s mechanically superior with the looks that every other man envies. Even grown men like to show off their toys,’’ offers Foong, patting the cat-like Bachetta.

During the good times, the company sold as many as 30 to 40 cars a month.

And who exactly are the lucky boys who get to buy these dream toys?

A majority of their clients are corporate movers and shakers who literally collect cars as a hobby.

“Most of our customers are high-profile men – not many women come in to buy cars for themselves, though it could be because they have the cars bought for them,’’ Foong quips.

Foong says quite a few of his clients are past retirement age (“I suppose fast cars keep them feeling young”) but adds with a chuckle that “there are just as many executives under 40 who can afford any car they want, though many of them may not look as good as the car they buy.

“Some of our best clients just keep adding on to their fleet. Many have more than 10 cars at home, but every few months, they call up and say ‘give me your new one’.

“One tycoon came in and bought four cars at a go – that was a real jackpot for us.’’

In case you’re wondering, buying a car with a seven-digit price tag doesn’t quite work the same way as acquiring your Proton or Honda.

The car is sent to the client’s home for him to test drive at his leisure, and if he likes it, Foong then arranges all the nitty-gritty like insurance and road tax, after which the car is delivered to the new owner’s doorstep.

And, of course, there’s none of that business of arranging a bank loan.

“Most of our customers don’t haggle and pay the full amount in cash. Some transactions are done through a third party like a driver or a personal assistant, so the owner doesn’t even come to the showroom,’’ reveals Foong.

A lot of the time, the payment is only made upon delivery.

Foong’s sterling service also includes a sort of money-back-guarantee: “There have been the odd cases of buyers changing their minds about the car after a couple of months, so we take it back to sell.’’

And how much of a chance does a wannabe with no money have to get a feel of his dream car?

“Of course we get a lot of men who really can’t afford such a car coming in to have a look, and that’s fine. Some even bring their families with them if they come on a Saturday and you can see they would give anything to own one of these cars. Few even ask for a test drive but we don’t allow that unless we know them.’’

So you’ll just have to contend with looking and salivating – unless you sell your house.

KL was just asking me which was my favourite console. That's a toughie. Honestly, I suppose its the games that matter. That's why I got the Cube - why? Because I like Resident Evil and the series has just moved from Sony's Playstation to Nintendo's GameCube. I reckon I wouldn't have a bought a Cube so soon if Resident Evil had stayed on the Playstation.

Anyways, just about 5 days to go before I get Resident Evil for the Cube. This is THE REASON I got my Cube about 4 months ago. Can't bloody wait to blow up some zombies. Hope its released on time and Toys R Us better bloody have it next weekend or I won't be a happy man!

PF just flew back to Perth today. Talked to her awhile on ICQ before she had to go out to do some stuff. Was telling her I met AL - then realised its almost a month since I met her. I should call her one of these days I guess.

Almost time to go. Got some ironing to do as usual.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Went on an MP3 download frenzy the other night. Mostly old songs. Must've downloaded close to 10 songs the other day. Among the songs I downloaded recently:

Silk - Get Freaky With You
Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles
New Edition - Still In Love With You
Will Smith - Summertime
Karyn White - Superwoman
Billie Myers - Kiss The Rain
Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away ( wanted the updated remade version by Kulcha. Worse thing was this song wasn't even complete!)
Creed - One Last Breath
Guys Next Door - I've Been Waiting For You
Paula Abdul - Rush Rush
Paula Abdul - Straight Up
NKOTB - I'll Be Loving You Forever
NKOTB - Please Don't Go Girl
Lenny Kravitz - It Ain't Over Till It's Over
Lisa Loeb - Stay (I Missed You)
Paula Cole - I Don't Wanna Wait
Ronan Keating - Lovin' Each Day

OK - so that's a lot of MP3s downloaded. Some of it were downloaded much earlier.

Nothing much happening over the weekend. Managed to watch a couple of movies, "Clueless" starring Hacken Lee, a police/supernatural movie. It's a cop movie with Chinese traditions, superstitions and myths related to the cases. The other movie was "Blade II" starring Wesley Snipes on Real Media format. Horrible quality! Don't even know why I bothered to watch that this afternoon.

Had a go on the XBOX again - once again, my other 2 babies remain untouched. But not for long! Just 2 weeks before Resident Evil comes out for the Cube! Can't wait. So excited because the release date has been supposedly brought forward by a week! The new release date is supposedly 13th September. Why? It's actually Friday the 13th - what better time release a horror game?

I have stressed so many times before that time flies quickly. Case in point, it's almost September 11th once again. A year has gone by so quickly it hardly seems like it. I still think that it happened recently. I remember it so clearly. I called GW late one night. She asked me "Did you hear the news?". In my half-slumber, I asked "What news?" and her reply was "America has been attacked". When you're half asleep, something like that doesn't seem to register. Anything doesn't register. She told me to turn on the tv to watch the news.

There I was - glued to the tv the whole morning. I actually skipped the day of Uni, just to watch the news. The feeling was so strange. It didn't seem real to me. I guess the word to be used here is "surreal".

One year has gone by. Where did all the time go? End of the weekend and back to work again. Haven't called AL, was supposed to have called her last weekend but I thought I didn't want to seem pushy. The only certain thing I am looking forward to is 2 weeks time I suppose.

Guess this is all for tonight. It seems pretty short but nothing to mention. Till the next entry....

Happy Birthday to me~

Received a knock on the door at around 12:00 am yesterday morning. It has become a tradition here that cakes are brought out, candles lit up at midnight. I remember last year, I was actually sleeping when the woke me up. KE got me a berry cheese cake. Topped with raspberries, strawberries, blackberries. She got it from Myer.

They already planned to take me out for a meal. Their treat, they said. DT said that he'd assume I'd go for a "guai lou" meal. I made life easy for them and told them that we should go to TGIFs after some consideration. I'd just been there last weekend with AL. Anyway, they said it was my choice since it was my birthday and they wanted to get BY to come along as well. So that was that, it was decided that we would go to Doncaster's TGIF's for lunch.

We met BY there. He got me a little gift, an Espirit keychain. Very thoughtful of him. Proceeded to have lunch. Admittedly, the meal was as enjoyable as it should have been. The food seemed to be a little dry. Not only mine but the rest of theirs too.

I have no idea what madness came over me because I finally got myself an XBOX. Yes! A fucking XBOX!! I've been reading the forums and people were talking about this deal. $399 for the XBOX, Halo, a DVD remote control and a DVD of your choice. If you see it from my point of view. It's a good deal. Good is an understatement. It's a FUCKING BARGAIN!.

Let me put it in simpler terms for a casual shopper. When it first came out, the XBOX had a price tag of about AUS $ 700. Within 2 months, the price dropped to $ 388 simply because alot of people do not like Bill Gates and Microsoft products. Just because it had the Microsoft brand-name on it, many people were saying bad things about it. Anyway, some people were not bothered by this and got it anyway. These people actually claimed they liked it more than their PS2s! *shock...horror!* Some even stopped playing the PS2s after they got the XBOX (Chris "Frodo Baggins" James is one such person).

Anyway, I was in the midst of doing a price comparison and I was side-tracked. So, $388 for the XBOX alone. Along comes this promotion - $ 399 for the whole lot PLUS a DVD of your choice at Electronics Boutique (EB). And there was one in Doncaster. I headed there and checked out the price. Then I went down to K-Mart to check the price as well. Turns out that K-Mart doesn't have the offer with the free DVD. Went back up to EB, ready to make my purchase when I find out that they've sold out! They've fucking sold out of the special Halo/XBOX packages! I thought the Japanese were crazy about their videogames but Australians are as well. Did I mention that this promotion started that morning (the 24th) and they had already sold out! Finally, I went back down to K-Mart, they had the package for $ 11 cheaper minus the DVD. Went to the counter and asked them about it and they said they just sold the last box! I couldn't believe it. Totally unexpected. The girl asked her colleague who mentioned they had another box in the store room and he would go get it. I picked up "Hunter: The Reckoning" as well. And now, I'm a proud (???) owner of an XBOX.

Dropped BY back at his house and had a short tour around. Quite an impressive place going by the reaction of the girls. We were there for about 10 minutes or so then we headed of home. I got changed and it was time to test out my new toy. I don't know if its because I was not feeling well, or it was due to Halo that I got a headache. Stopped to watch abit of tv (Andromeda, Mutant X and WWE Smackdown) and didn't touch the XBOX until this afternoon.

Was supposed to have met AL this weekend but I couldn't get her when I called the other day. The phone was engaged. Wonder how her exam went.

And here goes another weekend. About 3 weeks before Resident Evil for the Gamecube comes out. It's going going to be an expensive 4th quarter of the year for me. Lots of games coming out, that I want. OUCH.

More to come.....

OK - this update should be short. It's late and I need some sleep, soon. Things were a little different this week. Spice in life is good. Not the same routine.

Work was as usual. Except for that day when I had to actually clean up someone's shit of the handicapped person's toilet. Someone must've had diarrhea or something and crapped all over the floors. Then some idiot (or it could be the same person) decided to try clean it up abit but the damned fool threw the toilet paper aside and got shit on the wall as well. *Sighs* The things I have to do for money.

Friday night, some people at work decided to meet up for drinks and stuff. Went to a place called "The Harp". CJ has mentioned that he would do some gambling and he mentioned that he never came out of that place losing money. Sounds like a brag? I've heard this quote once and it goes like this:

"It ain't bragging if you can back it up".

Back it up he did. The first round he was there, he put in $ 20 and won it back plus an extra $ 100 more. When Tom arrived later, he won about $ 70 - $ 80 again. Tom lost the entire $ 5 of his when he tried. We ordered dinner, played a game of pool while waiting for the rest. Mandy showed up with Steve (her boyfriend, I think). Then while she was having a smoke while we played pool, a waitress asked for her ID. She forgot her passport (She's a New Zealander and that's her only form of identification) and she had to leave. After dinner, Tom wanted to go and offered me a lift home. Chris decided to stay as he had friends there.

Another thing I learnt is that Chris is actually a British who's been in Australia for a long time....so long that he's lost his accent. Interesting, he looks like Frodo Baggins and actually has English roots.... He could be a stand in if they ever needed one. Also, now I know he got his scars from being pushed into a fence playing soccer. He threatened to sue and the school paid him AUS $ 20,000 just to keep quiet about it. No wonder he could afford his Mitsubishi Lancer (modified) ?? Also, his middle name consists of 4 or 5 names because he was named after each of his grandfathers. How interesting.

Then, I finally called AL again last night. After Smackdown. Wasted no time, no beating around the bush. Asked her straight up if she had plans for today. She said no, so I suggested that we meet. OK. Finished. Easy as pie. Was supposed to meet her for lunch this afternoon. She said she would call before she left the house. Then this afternoon..she calls up and asks if we could meet for dinner instead. Anything is fine with me. Seems that she came home at 8:00 am this morning. OK. I did call her last night when she was about to go to bed. She did tell me she was going to bed early cause she was going out later.

Met her at about 7:00 pm at Jam Factory. And you guessed it, TGIFs for dinner again. Well, its about an average of once a month for the past 3 months now. She was stuffed. Talked about alot of things. Originally wanted to watch a movie but it might have ended too late and wasn't that suitable cause tranportation would be a problem. She suggested coffee back in the city but when we got there, Starbucks was closing so off we went to one of the sidewalk cafes. Talked some more. We actually ended up talking about videogames towards the end. She and her addiction to the PS2. Headed our seperate ways for home after that.

Did I mention what she was wearing? Black long sleeved fleece jacket with a maroon shirt inside with a scarf, hair clipped up nicely, with really tight jeans and thong slippers. OOooh... she also asked me if I've been working out - cause she mentioned that I look like I lost weight...and I looked "built". Sounds like a compliment if you asked me! *winks*

I did tell her about my birthday next week and she asked if I had anything planned. I said no and teased her and asked if she was going to plan something for me. Might be meeting her again this weekend. Will have to see how it goes.

Anyway, asked her to call me when she got home, so that I would know she got home safe. When I got off the tram, I tried calling but no answer. Waited another 15 minutes and the phone was engaged. 15 minutes after that, I got through. AL answered and I asked if she was on the phone. She said she was with her boyfriend. OK...not really something I wanted to hear. Abit of a disappointment actually. Oh well....

Got home and checked my email and finally, I have a picture of JS. Whoo hoo...she still looks as good as always. Abit shocked when she mentioned her son...and I think she actually meant her dog....*Phew*

I know I should be saving money....and I'm trying...but I've heard some news about a limited offer. AUS $ 399 for the XBOX + Halo + DVD Remote + DVD of our choice. It seems like an offer not to be refused! One week only starting the 24th of August. Oh damn.... what am I to do? If one works it out seperately, it works out to only $ 200 for the console! I must be / definitely am going insane.

And there goes one weekend. Back to the usual routine at 10:00 am tomorrow morning.

I seem to be updating this less and less. Could this journal be dying a slow death?

Nothing interesting seemed to be happening. I was late for work again once this week. Or was that last week. Time goes by so quickly I lose track of it. I remember I woke up 2 hours before I am supposed to start but I don't know why I just took my own sweet time. I realised I was late after my shower and looked at the clock. Anyway, I have to make up for being late so I had to stay back an extra 30 mins to make up for it.

Finally heard from AL again after about 2 weeks or so. This time, she invited me to call her so that we could "go out for a drink or something". I did try to call her last night around 10:15 pm after Smackdown but no one was in. I think the best time to call would be during a weekday. Or earlier. Don't know why I always postpone calling her. Why?

Called MC on Friday morning before work. The reception was bad, and got cut off before I even got to speak to her. Tried calling her again and again but just couldn't get through. Tried calling for the past 2 days but still couldn't reach her. Then I found out that she's gone for a holiday to Pangkor. She's going to get a scolding from me. Digi sucks as well. No coverage in Pangkor??

Went to watch "About A Boy" starring Hugh Grant, Toni Collette and Rachel Weisz. It was surprisingly entertaining. Didn't expect it to be since this isn't really my kind of movie. Went to Hoyts Chadstone with DT,ML,KA,KE and KA's friends AP and AL who are twins. After the movie, walked past Borders, which is a huge store that sells books and other stuff. Saw that "Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring" DVD was selling for about $ 28.95 which is $ 10 less that Recommended Retail Price! It's a 2 disc set but I might wait for the Director's Cut to come out which the movie is about 4 hours long, unedited - just the way its supposed to be, as close as the book as possible.

Speaking about "Lord Of The Rings", I just found out this week that Chris "Frodo Baggins" James from work is a big fan. Big is an understatement. What do you call someone who watched "Lord Of The Rings" 22 (twenty-two) times at the cinema?!?!?! I just had to spell that out to show that it wasn't a typo. TWENTY TWO TIMES. That's 11 times more than me. Erm. OK, that doesn't seem right. I didn't watch it 11 times, what I meant was 2 x 11 = 22. Therefore, I only watched it 2 times. Sorry about the confusion. I'm confused but isn't that correct as well. Oh forget it. I should have said ... I don't know how I should have phrased it.

Well, it's back to work again tomorrow. Just lazed around the whole weekend. Even time seemed to fly doing nothing. Just had to go out to get some groceries. Time to do some ironing after this as well.

I wish there was more interesting things to write about. Maybe next week.

Things were a little different this week. The usual routine at work but the end of the week ended a little differently.

I got up late on Wedesday morning. Either I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep or I didn't hear it at all. When I got up, it was 7:23 am, which is 7 minutes before my shift was supposed to start. I called the office at work and it was Marlene who answered. She didn't sound too happy when I told her I would be 1/2 an hour late. I had no choice as I normally take a quick shower in the morning as well. When I got to work, she seemed to abuse her power as manager. She was hassling me the whole morning and seemed to be in a shitty mood. I wouldn't blame her since there were only 3 of us working in the morning. It seemed to be extra busy as well. I did the best I could and I didn't take her complaining too seriously. Things turned out better when more people came in to start their shifts. She seemed to be alright the rest of the week although she's one on the "Dangerous Person" list of mine.

Decided to go to the city on Thursday morning to make some claims from Medibank and what a shocker! I just found out that there is a yearly limit on the amount I can claim on my medical prescriptions, which is $ 350 per calender year. Fucking fine print. Didn't see that. I guess I was too busy worrying about other stuff when I had to switch my cover. What it basically means is that I can no longer claim anything from Medibank for the rest of the year, assuming I'm still under the Overseas Visitor's cover. Might have to switch providers or look at a different plan when/if my PR application goes through. Thought I'd get about $ 100 back that day but only ended up with $ 17.50 which was the balance of the claims that I could get for the year.

Bought the official Prima Resident Evil Strategy guide which came with a huge fold-out poster for $ 20. Had to rush home to get ready for work after that.

Friday evening - FIRST FOOTY MATCH. Yes, they call football - footy. This is an Australian game. When I first saw it on tv, I didn't know it was Australian football, I thought it was rugby. Honestly, some people might not tell the difference. Ben was talking about this for weeks and he seemed more excited than I was. We agreed to meet at 5:15 pm on Friday and he would pick some of us up. I was there early, then Samantha came along. Ben arrived about 5 minutes after that and we had to pick Andrew up from Glenferrie Road. There were supposed to be more people but I guess they changed their minds at the last minute.

It was a match between the Collingwood Magpies vs. the Carlton Blues, which Collingwood won 141points to 33 points. Ben was a Collingwood supporter while Samantha was a Carlton fan. I have no idea which team Andrew supports. It was a good experience, Ben and Sam tried to teach me the basics of the game, which I think I did get. It was the experience that mattered I suppose. Don't remember if I ever been to a live sporting event before. I would have remembered if I did, since I'm good at events. So memory tells me I haven't been to a sporting event before. About 55,000 people there at the MCG Stadium that night. It's the sort of event where you get to see people at their worst. Had these 2 siblings (I assume) behind me. The teenage boy kept scolding his little sister, telling her to "get away from me, you stink, skunk!", "don't touch me!" and "shut up and watch the game" amongst other things. There was also an old man who was drunk or something who kept cursing throughout the entire game. Also found out that the captain of the Collingwood team is called Nathan Buckley who was playing his 200th game, which is supposedly quite a feat. There was a huge banner to congratulate him and I laughed when I saw it because "captain" was spelt "captian". I pointed it out to Ben who was sitting beside me and he was ashamed saying "you idiots".

The whole of today was spent at home, in front of the tv playing games and abit of tv after that. 2 new series on FOX8 today, "Andromeda" and "Mutant X". First one's by Gene Roddenberry, creator of "Star Trek" starring Kevin "Hercules" Sorbo and the other one is an X-Men clone.

This is it for tonight. Time for bed.
