Finally.....

My Transformers Movie Ironhide arrived in the mail today! It took 20 days but I finally have it.

As mentioned previously, I never had any luck with my 1st attempt at online shopping. I bought some action figures off eBay and the sellers were located in the UK and USA. Items were claimed to have shipped but I never got them.

I sent an email to Play-Asia to inform them of what happened - and I was the nice, understanding customer. I told them very nicely that I was a first time customer, and that they had been highly recommended.

A representative did reply to my email and said that an investigation would be carried out and that I would be compensated if my package was lost. Unfortunately, they didn't state what kind of compensation I would be getting.

Still, that was a comforting thought - at least they were trying to do something about it.
This experience didn't restore my faith by that much. I had already planned to take a video of me opening up the package - in case it turns out that the contents wasn't what I ordered. Good thing there were no mix ups in this case!

The long wait has been torture - for the past 3 weeks, I was hoping for the package every time the postman stops outside. Today was no different. While watching in the hall, I saw the postman. He had a parcel on his seat behind him and I thought "This is it! It's finally here!".

Unfortunately, he only dropped off some mail in the postbox and rode off. I was cursing (again) and thought I'd have to wait even longer.
The postman finally came back to the gate after doing his rounds on my street.

FINALLY! The wait was over - brought the package indoors and started to cut open the tape that secured the box while I got Ryan to shoot the video.

According to the date stamped on the box, the package arrived on 8th November 2007 at KLIA. Does that mean it took 2 weeks for them to deliver it?! But no matter, its all history now. As the saying goes, "Better Late Than Never".

Will I buy from Play-Asia again? Probably. There are some interesting stuff that I wouldn't mind buying, if I had the extra dough to spend.

And I hope I won't face these issues again. Maybe its a one-off thing, but am I that unlucky?

Only 1 remains - Ratchet. Then my Autobots will be complete.

Ryan has been bugging me non-stop (as much as I whine to him about not getting my Ironhide) to get this game called "Mass Effect" - some Sci-Fi RPG. Finally decided to go place an order for it at Gamers Hideout and also to see if I could get WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2008.

I would have never imagined that this game would be so hard to get! I'll have to wait until they get their stocks in.

We stopped by Shiok Toys and I had a chat with Rey, the owner. A good thing I didn't have to place a deposit for my Hot Toys Superman/Clark Kent pre-order. I guess he "knows" me well enough now, so that's kinda cool.

I was thinking that I would have a new game to pop into the 360 when I got home but I left empty handed, a little disappointed. But I suppose money saved is a good thing. And yes, it is just after payday - hence the little treats for myself.

We recently sent the car to repair the dent on the front which happened, awhile back. Some paint touch up and a new skirt. It's all good now.

There's also a new trailer to "Cloverfield"/"01-18-2008" (yes, its officially called "Cloverfield" now). You can check it out at JoBlo.com - links are on the sidebar. Basically, the trailer still doesn't reveal anything (and I didn't expect it to) but its one of the very few movies that I'm really looking forward to.

Found some more tid-bits on "The Dark Knight"! A new teaser site. I haven't read the whole thing yet but there are supposedly spoilers about the movie's plot in the "newspaper reports".

Just 7 months to go.....

A craving for the Crave Case?

I recently managed to catch "Harold And Kumar Go To The White Castle - Extreme Unrated" in its entirety.

The movie's about 2 friends/room-mates who had the craving for White Castle burgers after watching the commercial on TV. It is from there that their "adventure" begins.
They get sidetracked, and get into a shit load of trouble before finally arriving at their destination.

I remember we used to have a White Castle in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail - it was a corner lot. I might have been there a few times. The burgers were tiny, maybe slightly larger than a KFC bun. It closed down a long time ago and is now a Pizza Hut or a KFC. One or the other.

It's been so long that I don't even remember if the burgers were as good as they were made out to be in the movie.

Being really bored, I decided to surf the net and came across some videos on YouTube, something about the Crave Case.

A group of 6 people decided to eat 100 White Castle Sliders (the burgers are called "Sliders"), and make a video. Another one had a guy buying a Crave Case and managed to finish 16 burgers in one sitting.
Then I decided to check out what this "Crave Case" was and discovered this.....

The White Castle Crave Case (last 3 pics taken from thisisgonnabegood.blogspot.com - because we have no White Castle here)

I must admit looking at the pictures made me hungry - are the burgers really that tiny that they need to pack 30 boxes into a case?
Speaking of burgers - I had a McDonald's Double Cheeseburger the other day. It never tasted so good! So what actually sparked this burger craze? Watch and enjoy:

While looking for the "Harold And Kumar" picture, I came across a photo of "Southland Tales" on
rottentomatoes - which surprised me because I've never heard of it before.

The Rock and Seann William Scott in "Southland Tales"

The Rock and Seann William Scott together in another movie?! I loved them in "The Rundown" so based on that alone, I might need to check this movie out.

It appears that The Rock is now being credited as Dwayne Johnson and not "The Rock" or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I guess he's an actor now - no more just a WWE Superstar.

The blurb at the top of the poster says that its by the writer/director of "Donnie Darko" - which I've heard of but not seen yet. Apparently, "Donnie Darko" is a good movie.

It looks like there's a new trailer for "01-18-08". And I think they've finally decided on a name for this movie - from the looks of the trailer, its going to be called "Cloverfield". Joblo.com has the clearest one so far, only thing is, we still don't see shit - I guess the monster won't be revealed in any trailer at all. Guess we'll have to wait til early next year to catch it!

There are now 4 posters - all of them with the same image, but 3 with different headings. The first poster, as shown below, didn't have a heading.

I have no idea why people thought that this would be a Voltron movie - but it'll be cool if it was.

I've also discovered this Chinese singer who's quite good - Jane Zhang Yiang Ling. Check out her rendition of Shanice's "Loving You".

It's been 15 days and I still have not received my package. I understand its the weekend and there's no mail on weekends. That doesn't mean I'm not keeping score. Time doesn't stop on weekends, does it?

It better get here this week - or I'll be really pissed! Which I already am, but, I'm going to be more..... HULK SMASH!!!!!

And I'm irritated that Streamyx is real shitty tonight.

Finally, another blast from the past - no, its not a "Ghostbusters" movie sequel but a game scheduled to be released at the end of 2008. The actors from the movie will be voicing the characters in the game, and providing the likenesses.

I used to love the old PC game - and I remember I wanted the toy Proton-Pack when I was a kid. I remember contructing one out of some LASY blocks onto a backpack that I had.

12 days - Where's My Stuff?!?

It's been 12 days.....

Everyday I wake to early (I try to) to see if I can catch the postman. Nothing but bills and letters/notices. No parcels yet. This sucks.

Spoke to See Yin online last night and he said he's bought from Play-Asia on more than 10 occasions and he's received his goods everytime. In fact, he's ordered even more stuff.

I guess its just taking abit longer than usual and I have to be patient. It still sucks. I want my Ironhide!

There was a newspaper article a few months back that Facebook is one of the major causes of declining productivity at work. People are getting addicted to Facebook.

Am I one of them? I check Facebook for Friend updates everyday. Is that considered an addiction? Maybe its ok for me because I don't have access to the Internet at work.

I do agree that its better than Friendster due to more applications and stuff that can be added. I think I look forward to Facebook updates more than Friendster. Is this the beginning of the end of Friendster?

Reunion @ Wabisabi, 10th Nov 2007

Thanks to Facebook, a few of us old classmates managed to locate each other. Hui Fern was to come back from Hong Kong for a few days and she , Yvonne and I wanted to meet up. Somehow, it turned into this reunion.

It was to be held as the same day as the Annual Dinner. Somehow, I didn't feel like going this year. The last couple of dinners I've been too weren't that great, especially the food!

Weng Wai managed to reserve a table for us at Wabisabi at TTDI Plaza. Apparently he's quite a regular/he knows the owners etc.

Frankly, I thought the name was funny, and I had trouble pronouncing it. I had never been there before. Then again, I don't have much of a night life since I've started working.

I would never have imagined that TTDI Plaza would be so hip and happening. Rows of pubs/clubs lined both blocks. According to the sign on the frosted glass doors, Wabisabi was a Yakitori Bar. I had no idea what that is, so I had to Wiki it here.

Yvonne and Hui Fern were already there when I arrived. Yvonne wanted to read the autograph book first. We were chatting on MSN the night before and I mentioned that I still had my old autograph book from 1991!

After that, the rest started arriving one by one. We had a good time catching up - we haven't seen each other since secondary school for some.

The Autograph Book - "Antique"

Checking out the contents

Laughing at the stuff that they wrote 16 years ago

It was a kick watching them laugh their asses off at what they've wrote in my autograph books all those years ago. Some of the reactions were:

"Holy shit! You still have that?"

"I wrote that?! I wrote poems?"

"It's still in such good condition"

"It's great you're still keeping that - nice one"

Nice one indeed - it was fun watching their expressions - It was priceless.

The guys - Weng Wai, me, Clement, Danny

Group Shot - Hui Fern, Weng Wai, Desmond, me, Clement, Yvonne, Leong Chern, Leong Leng, Danny

Another Group Shot - Weng Wai, Leong Leng, Yvonne, me, Leong Chern, Clement, Josephine, Danny

Some of these friendships started way back in 1985 - that's 22 years. Sometimes, I'm amazed its been so long. The autograph book reads 1991 when we were in standard 6. Some of us were classmates since standard 1.

This one's dedicated to everyone present that day to make it happen:

Yvonne Ong, Choo Hui Fern, Danny Leong Tin Soong, Wong Leong Chern, Desmond Chan Sam Wai, Clement Chaw Fook Onn, Koh Weng Wai, Lionel Lim Leong Leng & Josephine Tham

22 years and counting, here's to many more - CHEERS

Where's My Stuff?

I'm still waiting for my package from Play-Asia.com.

Where's my Ironhide?

According to the website, my order shipped on 5th November 2007. It did state it might take 5 - 14 days, but I'm getting impatient because my credit card has already been charged!

I'm looking out for the postman everyday. Am I really that desperate? Or am I just concerned about fuck ups from the sender or our local postal service?

The first time I tried buying something off eBay from the US and UK, it didn't turn out well but at least I got my money back that time.

Here's hoping for the best!

"I" before "E", except after "C"

Apparently, I have a problem with spelling the word "separate". I mis-spelt this word twice while chatting with Deidere online, spelling it as "sepErate". Must make mental note. Interestingly, she caught it again when I made the typo again today.

On the subject of spelling, you have to check out this video of Jim Carrey doing a David Caruso (Horatio Cane, CSI: Miami) impression. This is where the title of this post comes from. And after that you have to watch the next video (IN THAT ORDER!)

# 1 - Jim Carrey does Horatio Cane
# 2 - Scenes of Horation Cane from CSI: Miami

I can't stop laughing now when I watch CSI: Miami after I "discovered" the Jim Carrey clip. Enjoy!

This new change in shift timing still takes a little bit of getting used to. Not good! And I'm already suffering from the Monday blues. Don't really feel like going back to work. The weekends are just too short sometimes.

The diet I'm on is either working or its not. I'm currently going to start week-4 of the programme. If the scale is correct, I might have lost 2 kg. The problem is the reading fluctuates from 0kg change to a 2kg loss.

I don't know why, but I'm really desperate (Is it desperate or desparate? Because they are similar in spelling!) to get the Transformers Movie Ironhide.

I've been tracking an auction on eBay Malaysia, which finally ended at RM 191.50. The bidding actually jumped from RM 172.00 to RM 188.50 at one point. I guess I'm not the only one who wants this badly. Doesn't help that we can't find it anymore in Malaysia.

I want it so badly that I actually placed an order for it (Japanese TAKARA version) through www.play-asia.com, for about RM 150.00. Came across this info from the LowYat forums and there was a guy taking orders but charging RM 10 extra.

SY has bought from them before and says that they're pretty reliable and suggested I opened an account to order it myself and save the RM 10. I guess now I just have to wait and see. The item supposedly ships within 24 hours upon placing the order (assuming everything checks out in terms of credit card details etc). Then I have to wait a further 5 - 10 days or so for it to arrive. Shipping is free and SY hasn't encountered problems so far *touch wood*.

This is my 1st time buying something online. I did try to get some stuff previous off eBay with Mahen's help but that didn't end to well. 2 different sellers claimed to have sent off the 2 packages but they never arrived. Good thing PAYPAL reversed the transaction and I got my money back. Again, there shouldn't be any problems. *TOUCH WOOD*

Also found some more new pictures of the upcoming Hot Toys Superman/Clark Kent that's coming out in December 2007. That Superman is looking good - a very Brandon Routh-like resemblance, but do I see a slight hint of Tom Cruise in there as well?

Definitely an improvement compared to the old headsculpt.

HOT TOYS Superman Returns (December 2007 Re-Release)

HOT TOYS Superman Returns (Original)

Just got this in the mail, what will they think of next?

Just like something out of a Sci-Fi movie like "Minority Report" or something. Are these just working prototypes or have they already been manufactured?

And finally, a new photo of The Joker from the upcoming "The Dark Knight".

Another 8 months to go, just 8 ......
